A Life Rebuilt: Our Son’s Journey Beyond Screens and Struggles
After trying several different programs in and outside the Dallas/Fort Worth area, which is where we live, for our son (Wilderness Therapy, Omega Recovery, Sierra Southlake, private therapy, medications) we found Restart and the program, along with his hard work, proved to be an amazing fit.
Our son has struggled with technology overuse, depression, anxiety, and social isolation. He attempted college which lasted about 6 weeks and couldn’t keep a job. He was falling further and further into a rut that he just couldn’t get out of, isolating in his room and not wanting to do anything.
We decided to send him to Restart and it was truly a life-changing decision.
He entered Restart in August of 2023 and remains in their outpatient program as of June 2024. He went back to school at Bellevue College and is completing his first quarter there. He plans on continuing with college and is moving into on-campus housing for this next quarter.
He has a job that he loves and works around 32 hours a week.
He now cooks, and those skills were a direct result of the Restart program, where the boys grocery shop and learn to cook for all the others in the program. As a result, he has adopted a very healthy lifestyle with clean eating and exercising.
Restart’s therapists, support teams, their living quarters, and the work they have their clients do is exactly what our son needed, and he is now thriving. They are compassionate and fair and are always willing to listen to our son and the families involved.
He truly is living independently and is happy where he is now and plans on staying in the Bellevue area.
